PRESS RELEASE
ISSUED: 03/05/2025
For Immediate Release
This week Inclusive Skaters competed at our Inaugural British Open Inclusive Skating Championships held in partnership with Planet Ice. Skaters competed across all disciplines at the Milton Keynes Planet Ice Rink. Skaters demonstrated their skill, talent, passion and joy for skating. It is a delight for the community to witness the continued development of our skaters and we applaud their hard work and training. We were also thrilled to welcome many new skaters to the event: We can’t wait to see how your grow and learn leading into the next event. This event also served as a National event for Special Olympics GB. We were thrilled to welcome Rachel Crack the Competitions Development Manager of Special Olympics GB to our event. She shared words of support and encouragement that our entire community was inspired by.
This week was one of many personal triumphs for our community and we commend everyone who made this event a success. The skaters, coaches, parents, carers, families, judges, ice stewards, announcers, videographers, photographs, volunteers and results team all are integral to making these events possible and Inclusive Skating applauds you all. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mark Savage and Liz Howe and the entire Planet Ice team whose efforts helped make this event so special. Inclusive Skating has previously collaborated with Planet Ice for Inclusive categories at events throughout the UK, and this event will served as a successful extension of our organisations’ shared commitment to increasing participation in skating and opening up opportunities for skaters with disabilities.
Finally we would like to extend a special thank you to Councillor Marie Bradburn, the Mayor of Milton Keynes for opening our event and for making the opening ceremony an event to remember for our community.
Please stay tuned for more information about this event as well as our other upcoming events, including the Inclusive Skating World Championships 2025 to be held in October 2025.
